Install

Every download below is the newest release. The release notes say what changed.

First release in preparation

TraCell 1.0 is not released yet. The download buttons and the install commands on this site start working with the first release.

Installer: download TraCell-Setup.exe and run it. It installs for your user account, so it needs no administrator rights.

Or from PowerShell:

irm https://tracell.app/install.ps1 | iex

Windows may warn that the publisher is unknown, because the installer is not code-signed yet. Choose More info and Run anyway.

curl -fsSL https://tracell.app/install.sh | sh

This puts the app in ~/.local/share/TraCell, adds it to the applications menu and links the tracell command into ~/.local/bin. Built on Ubuntu 22.04; newer Ubuntu versions run it too.

To do it by hand, unpack TraCell-linux-x86_64.tar.gz and run TraCell/TraCell.

There is no macOS version yet; it will follow after the first Windows and Linux releases.

A specific version

curl -fsSL https://tracell.app/install.sh | TRACELL_VERSION=1.0.0 sh
$env:TRACELL_VERSION = "1.0.0"; irm https://tracell.app/install.ps1 | iex

Updates

TraCell looks for a newer release once when it starts and offers the download page when there is one. You can switch that off, or check by hand, in Edit > Preferences and in Help > About. To update, install the new version over the old one; your preferences and presets stay.

Live camera

Offline tracking, post-processing and export work on every system with the downloads above.

Live tracking records from a Vision Research Phantom camera on Windows. It needs the Phantom SDK, which only Vision Research may hand out, so the downloads above do not contain it and cannot use a camera yet. Camera support for the public download, where you add your own copy of the SDK in Edit > Preferences, is in preparation.
